I was trying to figure out what to write this week, and I kept coming back to one thing: I am completely head over heels for this group of kindergarten kids! So I thought I'd let you know the top 5 reasons they melt me :)
5. Their parents! My heart just filled when I saw how many parents were interested in volunteering, how many parents sent in extra supplies, and how involved and vested all of the parents were in their K kids' lives. You're wonderful, mom and dad! I can't wait to work with you this year!!
4. The way they've jumped right in! They can already come in in the morning, move their bug for lunch, turn in their folder, put their things away, check their schoolbox to make sure they have two pencils, and play with their friends... have I mentioned we've only had 4 days to practice this? Wow... just wow!!
3. The fantastic reports I've gotten from Specials! It's hard for kindergarteners to leave their teacher - in the beginning of the year I'm definitely their lifeline! Nonetheless, this crew has amazed me even when they're not with me. I've gotten good reports from Special every day this week. That means they are making fantastic choices even when their favorite teacher isn't around ;)
2. The way they try everything! I've only had to tell this group things one time and they already put it into practice! I told them if a buddy is talking at a time they're not supposed to, tell them "please shhhh!" or if a buddy is sitting at their spot, tell them "please move to your spot" and so many of them already have been putting these things into practice and more. After three days of talking about what kinds of letters we can write, most of them are already writing their name BEAUTIFULLY! This class is so impressionable and they have such potential. I can't wait to see what this year brings!
1. The way they are so excited about everything we do! Beginning of the year K is exhausting - I'm sure I go to bed at the same time that they do! This class, however, constantly energizes me with their excitement. I'll tell them it's time to read a book and they cheer; I'll tell them it's time to create our own book and you would have thought it's the best thing that ever happened to them. My goal is to cultivate this excitement all year and create little learners who absolutely love school!!
