Our field trip to Loblolly was the first time I ever visited there, but I think I enjoyed it just as much as the kids! We got to have juice and cookies, go on a hayride and look at Christmas trees, play outside (I didn't want the kids to get all wet on the slide and swings so I taught them the Reindeer Pokey - see the video below!), feed and pet chickens, donkeys, piggies, and other farm animals, listen to a story (see the other video below of our adorable penguin dance that went with the story!), make an ornament, andddd... SEE SANTA! Getting to have a whole day of fun outside doing something different with the little ones is just another reason why I love my job =)
With last week's terrible tragedy in Connecticut, I can't help but hurt... it hit so close to home. I thought I was going to be sick when I heard the awful news... I could not imagine having to be in the situation that those teachers and children found themselves in. Nonetheless, it makes me so appreciative of my little guys. I hope you know that I love each and every one of them as if they were my own, and the thought of anything ever happening to them absolutely breaks my heart. I am a naturally nurturing person and I tend to give a ton of hugs of love, but just know that this week I will be hugging each of my little ones even tighter and making sure they know just how wonderful they truly are as often as I can. Check out our Poetry Performance of the Week - S-A-N-T-A. Reason 435748375784 why they just melt me and deserve so much hugs and lovin'!! Christmas Around the World is my absolute favorite time of year in Room 123! This week we packed our suitcases, bought our tickets, and started our journey around the world! Our first stop was Holland, where we learned about Sinterklaas and Black Peter. We were so good while we were coloring dutch shoes and adding hay and carrots for Sinterklaas' horse that Sinterklaas came and filled our shoes with candy canes! After we stamped our passport with a shoe for Holland, we flew to Italy, where we learned about La Befana, the good witch who gives treats to good boys and girls and coal in the shoes of naughty boys and girls. We even got to make pizzas to celebrate our travels to Italy! After stamping our passport in Italy, we headed to Sweden, where we learned about Saint Lucia Day, a day where the oldest daughter dresses up and prepares breakfast for her family. We made a crown of candles like the oldest daughter wears and ate donuts to celebrate! Next stop was Mexico, where we made poinsettia's and got to hit a mini-pinata to celebrate La Posada. We packed our bags for the weekend and cannot wait to see what adventures await us next week! I was having so much fun traveling with the kids that I forgot to take pictures during the first few days of our travels (eeeeep!). However, I did capture the last part of our journey. Check it out in the Pictures section! And you won't want to miss this week's Poetry Performance of "The Best Gift in the World"! (After watching you'll have to ask your K kid to give you the best gift in the world!). |
