This past month we've been learning all about American Symbols. So far, we've learned about the White House, the Bald Eagle, the American Flag, the Statue of Liberty, and the Liberty Bell. The K kids were so excited to learn that so many of them are so close to where they live! Since the Statue of Liberty is a bit far for a field trip, we decided to bring the Statue of Liberty to us. Check out the adorable Statues of Liberty I found in Room 123 this past week! =) (Thanks Mrs. Little for coming in and taking our pictures!!)
I read the quote below today and thought it was so incredibly fitting after meeting all of my wonderful parents and talking to them about my amazing little ones! At 5 and 6 years old, the K kids are like sponges.. they absorb everything, and they are free to morph with whatever comes their way. I realize that, much like you, I spend quite a bit of time with your little sponge and in turn I am molding them into who they will become. Consequently, I just wanted to let you know that my goals for your child are twofold:
1. Make your child fall in love with school & 2. Make your child the best possible kid they can be! After meeting you all yesterday and today, I know it is your sincere wish for the same, and I can tell you work every bit as hard at it as I do. Thanks for all you do, K families! Your little ones are incredible and are growing even more incredible by the minute!! The week is finally here.. our first Parent Teacher Conferences!! I just got done writing out the mini "report cards" you'll get for your K kid (since real K report cards won't come out until January) and I am just astonished at how much they've grown in our 50 days together. I can't wait to show you how amazing your little one is doing! Since I've only participated in conferences from the teacher perspective, I decided to look up helpful hints for the parent perspective! Click the picture below for some ideas the National Education Association had to help parents best prepare and make the most out of their Parent Teacher Conference time =) And of course, our blog entry wouldn't be complete without our Poetry Performance of the Week. It is a short poem this week, but sweet as always! <3 The 50th day is coming! To celebrate, we are going to have root beer floats, a bubblegum blowing contest, a hula hooping contest, bowling, dancing to the twist and the hand jive, and more! The K kids are more than welcome to don their best 50s outfits for the big day! To give you some ideas, I did a quick Google search to give you some adorable ideas for easy things you can do to get your K kid Pink Lady or T Bird ready. Click the picture below to see some ideas! =)
