One of my favorite parts of teaching K is listening to the conversations the little ones have. My favorite conversation to date happened Friday afternoon, right before our holiday parent surprise. Two girls were coloring their life-size Grinches and talking about what they wanted for Christmas. One of the little girls said, "You know, Christmas isn't all about getting gifts. It's about giving gifts, too." Then she went on coloring like it was a perfectly normal thing to say, rather than such a profound thought for such a little girl. A little while later I heard the other girl telling another student in our class that Christmas is about giving.
These little ones left me feeling so humbled! There is so much power in our words and in our actions. If these little ones are emulating what has been said and done to them, sharing great things and emulating great acts, at such a young age, imagine the amazing things that are in store for them!
I guess I wanted to use this story to say that I hope you enjoy this Christmas season with your friends and your family and use the opportunity to be a fabulous example for your kinder kid of gratitude and giving! =) Happy, happy holidays!
