Christmas Around the World is my absolute favorite time of year in Room 123! This week we packed our suitcases, bought our tickets, and started our journey around the world! Our first stop was Holland, where we learned about Sinterklaas and Black Peter. We were so good while we were coloring dutch shoes and adding hay and carrots for Sinterklaas' horse that Sinterklaas came and filled our shoes with candy canes!
After we stamped our passport with a shoe for Holland, we flew to Italy, where we learned about La Befana, the good witch who gives treats to good boys and girls and coal in the shoes of naughty boys and girls. We even got to make pizzas to celebrate our travels to Italy!
After stamping our passport in Italy, we headed to Sweden, where we learned about Saint Lucia Day, a day where the oldest daughter dresses up and prepares breakfast for her family. We made a crown of candles like the oldest daughter wears and ate donuts to celebrate!
Next stop was Mexico, where we made poinsettia's and got to hit a mini-pinata to celebrate La Posada. We packed our bags for the weekend and cannot wait to see what adventures await us next week!
I was having so much fun traveling with the kids that I forgot to take pictures during the first few days of our travels (eeeeep!). However, I did capture the last part of our journey. Check it out in the Pictures section!
And you won't want to miss this week's Poetry Performance of "The Best Gift in the World"! (After watching you'll have to ask your K kid to give you the best gift in the world!).
