Our first report cards are almost here, which means it's assessment time. As I test the kids on their skills and concepts I can't help but be amazed. Some students came in not knowing even a single letter, and now almost all of them know all of their letters and sounds. Some students couldn't even hold a pencil, and now so many of them can write at least four fantastic sentences all by themselves. Some students didn't even know what a number was, and now almost all of them can count to 100. Some students ran and told me every time someone looked at them funny (and some still do =]), and now most of them use their words to express their feelings with their friends.
It simply amazes me how far they've come in this short amount of time. I think the tremendous amount of growth is why Kindergarten is my favorite grade to teach! I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store for us!!
Our new knowledge just keeps on going... check us out learning our colors in Spanish! (I tell them all the time that I didn't learn Spanish until I was 13 so they're even smarter than me =])
